Another Favorite Band

RUSH

Another favorite rock band of mine from way back is Rush. This band, in my view is truly unique and extremely talented. Their music is composed with a classical writing type style. The songs are arranged in movements and some are epics of science fiction and ancient mysteries. When I first listened to a Rush song, I thought to myself, what kinda of rock band is this, anyway. I mean, they sounded a lot like this other band, Yes, and another band, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer (ELP), and a little bit of the Moody Blues, all wrapped together. I have to admit, at first I didn’t really like Rush, but in time, their music well, just grew on me as I grew older. To me, this band has stood the test of time as well. The album pictured above is entitled “Moving Pictures”. I think  this particular album for Rush was the one you would say, put them on the map. Of course all their other albums are good, this one noted is one of my all-time favorites.

Led Zeppelin

This rock band is one of my all time favorites. They definitely have stood the test of time. I’m really glad Led Zeppelin was finally honored at the Kennedy Awards this past December. That was truly amazing for me and all the fellow rockers out there in the rock & roll community. Wow! What an honor for them. As I was watching that show on TV, I noticed that the lead singer, Robert Plant, was almost in tears while watching another famous rock band, Heart, playing  “Stairway to Heaven”. It was a moving experience for me, as I saw each of the band members expressions during that spectacular performance of their music, by the featured bands that night. I mean, that show was incredible.

I like to play Led Zeppelin songs on my guitar. Someday I hope to sound like Jimmy Page. I’m almost there. I’ll have that topic on a future post. But for now, I’ll be signing off for the night.

Favorite Bands

Some of my favorite bands over the years are Led Zeppelin, Rush, Judas Priest, and Jimmie Hendricks. I’ve always liked rock music since I was about , oh, 8 years old. I collect all kinds of rock and heavy metal music on vinyl records. I just like that old analog sound. To me, it just sounds warmer than digital does. I guess I’m and old school kind of guy. But back to the rock music. I think the first time I actually heard a so-called “Heavy Riff” was when I was about 8 years old at my cousin’s house. He had the Led Zepp 2 album, and as soon as the cartridge touched down on the record, that’s when it all started for me. I mean, I first heard that laugh, then the “Thuda, thuda, thuda, dathu datheda, datheda, datheda, datheda. That’s my interpretation of the Intro to “Whola Lotta Love” by Zeppelin. In my view, that particular guitar riff is up there as one of the all time greatest. After hearing that cool music at my cousin’s house, I started buying records and tapes every week. As I got older, I got into the Heavy Metal Craze, and that kept going far into my adult years. I still like all this music, and this one band, Led Zeppelin still remains to be the “Founding Fathers” of the Hard Rock music era to this day.

Favorite Bands:

Some of my favorite music dates back to when I was very young. I can remember listening to music with my dad on his old stereo system. My dad liked the music from his time, which was from the 50’s, its rock & roll, and that’s where it all started for me.

These are some of the bands I started listening to when I was about twelve or thirteen years old: The Rolling Stones, Beatles, Dylan, and many others.

As I got a little older, I started listening to the harder rock bands, for instance: Aerosmith was one, Heart, ZZ Top, and this one band named April Wine. I still like these bands and I listen to them now and then.
